RECOMMENDATION: |
The Program Approval
Committee recommends adoption of the following resolutions: RESOLVED, that the
Commission approve the Grand Canyon University’s baccalaureate and Masters in
Education Initial I Teaching licensure programs based upon favorable review
of the Commission; RESOLVED FURTHER, that the
Grand Canyon University is authorized to recommend candidates completing
their Baccalaureate and M.Ed Initial I Teaching licensure programs after March
1, 2011, and through August 30, 2012. Candidates
recommended from these programs will receive an Oregon Initial I Teaching
License. |

INFORMATION: |
Professional education programs at Grand Canyon
University are designed to support and promote the University’s mission to
prepare learners to become global citizens, critical thinkers, effective
communicators, and responsible leaders from the context of its Christian
heritage. |

Grand Canyon’s proposal requests approval for
Baccalaureate and Master of Education preparation in the Early Childhood,
Elementary and Middle and High School levels with the endorsements of Special
Education, Multiple Subjects Self-Contained, Language Arts, Basic and Advanced Math,
Biology, General Business, Chemistry, Language Arts, Physical Education,
Physics, Health, Social Sciences and Integrated Science.
Grand Canyon University’s
Post- Baccalaureate and Master’s of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Initial Licensure
programs will be reviewed pursuant to OAR 584-010-0055 and a recommendation for
further approval based on that review will be presented to the Commission prior
to November 2012. Candidates completing
these programs must continue to satisfy Arizona’s initial teaching licensure
requirements and upon proof of Arizona licensure, will receive an Oregon
Initial or Initial I Teaching License.
