Practicum Changes Summary

Practicum Element	Previous Arrangement	Current Arrangement
Placement	Coordinated by the instructor and verified by the candidate.	Placements are either arranged or formalized through PSU GSE Field Placement Office. The Field Placement Office verifies that the practica are evaluated by qualified, school-based supervisors.
Records	Kept by the candidate and course instructor. Evaluation forms archived in individual student files.	The Field Placement and Licensure Office coordinates the maintenance of all records in the GSE database system, including assessments and student data.
Structure	3 one-credit practicum embedded within three distinct courses.	Beginning with the 2011-12 academic school year, embedded practica will be replaced with one 3-credit self-contained, stand-alone, 90-hr., formal practicum. The practicum will be supervised by qualified on-site supervisors.
